A community with many strengths

A Strong Local Economy Is Part of Roseville’s Story

When you’re deciding where to buy a home, you’re choosing more than a house. You’re also choosing a community, and I think it’s worth understanding some of the things that help support it.

Roseville has grown into a significant employment center within the greater Sacramento region, with approximately 90,000 jobs and thousands of businesses. Its workforce spans healthcare, technology, transportation, education, government, professional services, and locally owned businesses. That diversity is one of the things worth knowing when you’re considering making Roseville home.

Healthcare & Medical

Kaiser Permanente Roseville Medical Center building

Healthcare is an important part of Roseville’s economy, with major medical centers and healthcare organizations located right here in the city.

Kaiser Permanente Roseville Medical Center operates a major hospital and medical campus on Eureka Road with a wide range of specialties and services. Sutter Roseville Medical Center serves Roseville and surrounding communities as a major regional medical center. Adventist Health also has its corporate headquarters in Roseville, adding another established healthcare organization to the city’s employment base.

Technology & Medical Innovation

Hewlett Packard Enterprise building in Roseville

Roseville also has a longstanding connection to technology and innovation. Hewlett Packard Enterprise has maintained a presence in Roseville as part of the city’s technology story. Penumbra, a medical-device company, adds another connection between healthcare, technology, and innovation in the local economy.

A story still in motion

The Railroad That Helped Build Roseville

You can’t really tell Roseville’s economic story without talking about the railroad. Tracks were laid through what would become Roseville in the 1860s, and rail has played an enormous role in shaping the city.

That connection hasn’t disappeared. Union Pacific Railroad’s J.R. Davis Yard remains a major rail facility in Roseville today: an unusual example of an industry that is both part of the city’s history and part of its modern economy.

A Community With More Than One Economic Engine

Roseville’s employment base is supported by a mix of industries, established organizations, and local businesses. That diversity is one more useful part of getting to know the community where you may put down roots.

Start with the exact property address

Schools & School Districts in Roseville

Schools are an important consideration for many people buying a home in Roseville. One thing to know before you begin your search: Roseville is not served by a single K-12 school district. Elementary and middle school districts vary by address, while high school students are generally served by Roseville Joint Union High School District, which receives students from several partner K-8 districts.

Find Your Roseville School

Start with the home's exact address and check both grade levels: elementary/middle school and high school. Use the official district tools below, then confirm the assignment and school year directly with the district. A ZIP code, neighborhood name or older listing is not enough to establish attendance.

Dry Creek Joint Elementary School District

Some Roseville addresses, including portions of western and northwestern Roseville, are served by Dry Creek Joint Elementary School District. It is one of the K-8 partner districts feeding into Roseville Joint Union High School District.

Its official attendance-area and boundary resources help you check the school of residence for a specific property.

Check the School Year, Too

RJUHSD has approved new attendance boundaries beginning with the 2027-28 school year. These changes affect incoming freshmen beginning in 2027 and new students moving into the district; the district says students already attending its high schools are not affected.

For a move that spans school years, ask the district which assignment applies to your student and address. For a new-build address that is not yet in a locator, contact the district directly.

Buying a home in Roseville? If schools are part of your search, confirm both the elementary/middle school district and assigned high school before making a decision. Attendance boundaries, enrollment availability and district policies can change.

Everyday Moments Make a Place Feel Like Home

A walk with your dog, a favorite lunch spot, a library visit or an afternoon outside can be just as meaningful as the house itself. Give yourself time to explore the parts of Roseville you'll actually use.

  • Parks and trails: Find places to explore with the city's parks and trails map.
  • Shopping and gathering: Explore downtown, Westfield Galleria and Fountains at Roseville. See more Roseville amenities.
  • Community activities: Libraries, classes and swim programs offer ways to get connected. Find contacts in my community guide.
  • Your daily routine: Try your commute at your usual travel time. If school assignments matter to your plans, confirm attendance boundaries directly with the district for the address you're considering.

The Local Conversation Behind This List

A few months ago, I asked a question in the r/roseville Reddit community I belong to: Where is your favorite place in Roseville to take out-of-town guests for the weekend?

The post took off, and hundreds of people joined the conversation! They shared favorite restaurants, coffee stops, trails and places they love showing off when friends and family visit. This list grew out of those recommendations from around Roseville and nearby communities.

I love that kind of sharing. It's how you discover the little places that make a community feel like home.

Look Beyond the Purchase Price

I want you to feel good about the payment after moving day, too. We'll consider principal and interest, property taxes, homeowners insurance and any applicable mortgage insurance or HOA dues. Then leave room in your spending plan for utilities, upkeep and the things you love doing.

Some properties have special taxes or additional assessments. Check the individual address rather than assuming similarly priced homes have the same monthly cost. Explore the city's special-tax information and county property tax contacts.
